I’m not sure whether this article about the 7 habits of highly innovative people is pure nonsense, but it is an interesting article about ways to try think ‘out of the box’.

One method which wasn’t discussed in the article, but which I think is relevant, is the use of illicit drugs. It seems to me very creative people are either extremely intoxicated, hallucination, or out of their mind due to drugs or mental illness. While this is a blatant stereotype, I’d like to point out Kary Mullis, inventor of the PCR, discusses this in his book Dancing Naked in the Mind Field. The short review is that he thinks LSD is a good thing and helped him come up with PCR. For that effort, he won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

I’m not very creative. Infact, I’d say I’m downright boring. Of course, I don’t do any illcit drugs at all, which would probably explain why I’m boring.
